IT’S YOUR NIGHT (aka Ladies Night, Moms Night Out, Girls Night) at Tribe could not have come at a better time for me. It was the perfect remedy to a long week with my 7-month-old and my husband out of town. The night was filled with relaxation, celebration and self-care.
Making time for myself has been one of my biggest challenges since having my son. For the past 7 months, I have been trying to so hard to be the perfect wife, mommy, housekeeper, etc., that my own needs have fallen by the wayside. As a yoga teacher, I have always preached the importance of self-care. And while I understand its importance, I have had a really hard time putting this necessity into practice as a new mommy. The transition into motherhood has been filled with doubts, joy, happy and sad tears, fear, anxiety, guilt, and a love that I could have never imagined. Through all these emotions, I have found it challenging to connect with some of my non-mommy friends, leading to moments of loneness and isolation.
IT’S YOUR NIGHT at Tribe was completely nurturing, supportive, and empowering and truly met all of my needs. Starting the night off with a power yoga class helped to ground me and get back in my body. So often as a new mommy, I find that I reside a lot in my head. Being able to sweat and breath truly helped me to reconnect with the earth beneath me. Closing the yoga practice with a yin session was a great way to nurture and offer some self-love to my overworked body. We then ended the night with great eats and conversation. I returned home that night with a pep in my step. Something I had been missing for quite some time. I cannot wait for another event at Tribe!
